So recently, I’ve been getting back into Harry Potter. Like… a lot. After seeing Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Connor and I decided to have a race to see who could finish watching all 8 films, and reading all 7 books before Christmas. And I’m so going to win. But, since I’m in such a festive-y, Potter-y mood, I thought this would be a fab post to do!
I found this tag on One Tiny Wish‘s blog from last year, and I really hope she doesn’t mind me taking this tag and using it because it’s such a great one! So, without further ado, let’s get straight into it!
Favourite book?
Probably The Deathly Hallows. It just brings every single aspect of the story together so perfectly, and paces the story out in a way so much better than even two films could. It was the only book of all of them to make me really cry, and I think it was just the moment where I really felt like I was going to miss the characters, after sticking with them for so long.
Favourite film?
Prisoner of Azkaban. It was actually the first Potter film I ever saw, and it just has a special place in my heart. It’s the last film before everything starts getting very dark and scary, sort of where the gang still has their innocence and their fun, before everything goes to hell. Also, Harry’s hair that year. Oh, and for this exact moment:
Least favourite book?
Very popular answer here, but Order of the Phoenix. It’s ever so long, and not a lot actually happens. It’s one of those books that you know is important, but you can’t for the life of you remember why.
Least favourite film?
Chamber of Secrets. I love it still, but I’ve seen it so many times that I’m kind of bored of it now. For some reason it’s always on Sky, and obviously, when Harry Potter is on, Harry Potter is being played.
Parts that made you cry?
Fred’s death. That’s all I’m saying on the matter, don’t start me off again…
If you could date any character, who would it be?
Probably Neville. He’s more my type, with the silliness and the nerdiness and the just general “awww” factor. But Fred and George have a special place in my heart too, the cheeky shits.
Favourite character?
Fred and George. They count as one, right? Alternatively, my favourite female character would have to be Hermione or Professor McGonagall. Actually, looking back on it, I’d have to say any character that isn’t Harry or Umbridge… I’m not fussy!
Least favourite character?
Harry, ngl. I get he has a troubled past and all, and he is the hero, but if I’d been at school with him, I’d probably hate him. That kid always got out of trouble, seemed so super cocky, but still managed to fuck things up for Gryffindor on a regular basis!
Favourite quote?
“Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?” – Albus Dumbledore
Least favourite quote?
Haven’t got a clue.
What would your Patronus be?
After extensive online quizzes, I’ve decided that my Patronus would (unsurprisingly) be some sort of cat. (FYI my Pottermore one is a Lynx. How cool is that?). This is probably because I, like a cat, spend much of my time sleeping, and being an asshole.
What would your Boggart be?
Rather than a giant spider, I’d fear thousands of little spiders. That, and one of my loved ones dying.
Would you rather have the Elder Wand, the Resurrection Stone, or the Cloak of Invisibility?
The cloak. I’d be very surprised if anyone said otherwise on this question. Like… I’d get so much done in peace, and also you could freak people out. That would be fun.
What house would you be in?
Hufflepuff all the way!!!
If you played Quidditch, what position would you play?
I’d play a Chaser, because I used to love Netball and I was pretty good at Goal Attack… I think that’s a good equivalent, right? Plus, there’s a lot less responsibility on you as a single person when there’s three of you doing one job.
What class would be your favourite?
Charms, followed by History of Magic. I’m not one for physical learning like COMC or DATDA so… nerd subjects it is.
If you could bring one character back to life, who would it be?
Absolutely Remus Lupin. Poor Teddy was left without any parents, and since Lupin left none of the Marauders were left to look after Harry and his massive ego. Also, Connor loves Lupin.
What would your job in the magical world be?
I’d love to work for the Daily Prophet, in a big bustling editorial role. That’s the dream, folks. If I can’t do it in the Muggle world, I might as well aspire to be a journalist in the wizarding world!
If you could meet anyone of the cast, who would you meet?
Emma Watson. She just seems so cool and chilled and bad-ass, I’d get so many life tips from her about being a kick-ass sophisticated and clever lady, plus she seems like one of those celebrities who know they’re famous, but don’t actually care that much, and I love down-to-earth people. (Also she’s in This Is the End, one of my guilty-pleasure shitty comedies, and I love her in it).
Were you happy with the ending?
In the books, yes. I think everything got pulled together so nicely and everything was revealed and happy.
The only thing I don’t like about the movies was Tom Riddle’s death. I won’t say any more on the matter, but the movie made it so extravagant, when in reality, it should have been ever so simple. Like… you had one job…
How much does Harry Potter mean to you?
It means a hell of a lot to me. I actually got into Harry Potter comparably late to everyone else, when I had just started high school. Even so, the world of Harry Potter, with its ups and downs, makes me super happy, and has brought me closer to many people over my life, and I absolutely cannot wait to read the stories to my children in the future, so that they can be introduced to the magic too.
And there we have it, the Harry Potter tag! I hope you enjoyed it, and I’m tagging anyone who wants to take part and have this awesome piece of content on their blogs!
Thanks for reading, see you tomorrow!
Jess
